Most of the Endlers previously discussed on this blog refer are Endlers that were discovered in 2007 or earlier in the Cumana region of Venezuela.
The majority of them are strains that were developed by Adrian Hernandez (AdrianHD) from original fish collected from the wild by Armando Pou.
Many of these original strains are thought to be extinct or endangered.
There are however some Endlers discovered since 2007. Many believe these Endlers are naturally occurring Guppy / Endler hybrids.
In recent years new Endlers have been discovered in the Campoma region as well as the Cumana region.
Most of these Endlers have distinct patterns and colors that are quite different from the Endlers previously discovered.
There is quite a bit of debate concerning these Endlers as there was with the Cumana Region Endlers as to whether they are pure Endlers or hybrids of some of the wild guppies that live in the same waters.
While these Endlers may or may not be considered “pure” Endlers they are definitely “Endler like” with similar metallic coloration and patterns.
Campoma Endlers are usually kept organized by listing their strain name as well as year and location they were collected.
Most of the newly discovered Endlers were collected and taken to Europe and are difficult to get in the United States.
