Orchid Endlers

Orchid Endlers were the first Endlers we chose to keep due because they were not particularly common in the hobby at the time and they have such beautiful contrasting colors.

We purchased our Endlers directly from Adrian Hernandez (AdrianHD) in February of 2013.

Orchid Endlers where collected in the Cumana Region of Venezuela by Armando Pou and line bred into a strain by Adrian Hernandez in 2006.

Orchid Endlers, also known as Black Hat Endlers have a unique and striking color pattern that is easily recognizable however the strain is highly variable and no two males are exactly alike.

Typically they have colors of orange, green and black.  Occasionally you may see small areas of light blue especially on the sword.

What appears to be a sword on an Orchid Endler is usually just a coloration on the tail that does not extend much past the caudal fin.  The sword can be longer with selective breeding.

Occasionally male Orchid Endlers may exhibit a marking we call a “black belt”.  This marking is a vertical black line that may appear just in the mid section of the Endler.

As with most Endler strains, female Orchid Endlers have little to no coloration.
